About Us

The United Domestic Workers Federation (UDWF) is a joint platform established by domestic workers’ unions from Lahore, Kasur, Sialkot, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad to strengthen the collective voice and rights of domestic workers across Punjab, while also expanding advocacy efforts to other provinces of Pakistan. Emerging from sustained grassroots organizing since 2012, UDWF champions legal recognition, fair wages, and access to social protection for domestic workers. It has played a vital role in key achievements such as the Punjab Domestic Workers Act (2019), which formally recognizes domestic workers as employees under the law, granting them legal protection and entitlements. The Federation coordinates advocacy, legal assistance, registration support, and training initiatives, and has developed an Android mobile application that enables domestic workers to become members, register complaints, receive life counseling, and access educational and legal publications-promoting dignity, inclusion, and justice for domestic workers across Pakistan.
